Nut(rition) ("Nut") is a personal-use Android app built and used by a single person, its developer. This policy explains what information the app handles.
Information the app stores
Everything you enter in Nut — profile details, weights, food and drink logs, check-ins, workouts, settings and meal plans — is stored on your own phone. The developer does not operate any internet-facing server and does not receive, collect or have access to this data.
Google Drive backups
If you connect Google Drive, Nut uses the Google Drive permission https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. With it, Nut creates and manages only its own backup files in a folder named "Nut Backups" in your Drive. Nut cannot see, read or change any other file in your Drive. Backup files contain the data described above and are used only to restore the app. They are not shared with anyone. You can disconnect Google Drive at any time in the app and delete the backup files from your Drive, and you can revoke Nut's access in your Google Account settings.
Nut's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Other services the app may contact
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts: when you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search text or barcode number is sent to look up nutrition information.
- The owner's own home server (optional): if you pair Nut with its companion service on your own Raspberry Pi, Nut sends it only recipe links you choose to share, your list of blocked ingredients and your recipe cost limit, over your home network. That service finds and checks recipes from public recipe websites. It never receives your name, weight, food logs, drink logs, spending or any other personal data.
Nut does not use any artificial-intelligence service.
What the app does not do
Nut contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. It does not sell or share your information.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes its data from your phone. Delete the "Nut Backups" folder in Google Drive to remove any backups.
